13 low-effort habits (with ridiculously high ROI):
1. Drink more water
According to this study:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
Colby's wild speculation #1:
At least 80% of the time that we feel like shit, it's because we're either dehydrated or sleep-deprived.

2. Get an old-fashioned alarm clock
Speaking of sleep deprivation.
Maybe the single best habit I've ever built is swapping my phone for a Kindle at bedtime.
Colby's wild speculation #2:
Most people have poor sleep because they stare at screens until the moment they go to bed.

3. Block blue light
Alright.
If you still need to bring your phone to bed, then at least do this.
Use blue light blocking glasses, or install blue light software on your phone and PC.
Personally, I use:
- justgetflux.com (for PC)
- iOS Night Shift (for phone)

4. Write down your most important task of the day (every day)
Throw out that endless to-do list and focus on what really matters.
The simple act of writing down your "Daily Highlight" makes it much more likely to get done.

5. Batch small tasks together
Small tasks can be dangerous.
They feel productive, but often they break our focus, and kill our ability to perform deep work.
Batch those buggers together.
Do them all in a scheduled block.
Stop letting them interrupt actual important work.

6. Eat more whole foods
Regardless of whether your diet is paleo, keto, or Oreos — this applies.
Anything highly-processed, will take a lot of energy for your body to digest.
Skip the processed food if you want to feel energized.
Aim for single-ingredient items instead.

7. Turn off notifications
Notifications are the nemesis of productivity.
Imagine if you were at work, and every 2 minutes someone yelled "LOOK OVER HERE".
Would you get much done?
Could you focus?
Of course not.
That's exactly what you let your phone do to you every day.

8. Make "no" your default
This sounds savage.
But if time is our most precious resource, shouldn't we be ruthless with how we use it?
I like Derek Sivers' "Hell Yeah or No" rule.
If it's not a "hell yeah", it's a "no".
Simple as that.

9. Audit your attention
We live in an attention economy.
Everything around you is fighting to get it.
Track your time for a day/week.
See where it's going.
Does it align with the person you want to be?

10. Walk
Some benefits of walking:
- Burn calories
- Boost your mood
- Increase creativity
- Improve your stamina
- Improve cardiovascular health
We were built to move.
Just ask @dickiebush:

@dickiebush 11. Say something you're grateful for every day
Or better yet, write it down.
Gratitude is a superpower.
The more you build it, the less you're impacted by external circumstances.

@dickiebush 12. Curate your information diet
My mood drastically improved when I stopped inviting in negativity on social media.
You have the power to control your information diet.
Try doing an audit.
Curate the content you consume so that the cost doesn't outweigh the benefit.

13. Do nothing (literally just sit and breathe)
There is subtle power in doing nothing.
In a world of constant input, there is rarely a moment of quiet for our minds.
Cut off the noise for even 10 minutes each day, and watch as your brain has space to perform magic.
