Err…Earliest structures at Girnar are Sudarshan lake built by Chandra Gupta Maurya and the temple of Vishnu on its banks.
Junagadh Rock inscription of Rudradaman is again one of the earliest Sanskrit inscription and records donations to Brahmans and not Shramans. 1/5
There is no record of Jaina activity in Girnar that predates these inscriptions. Jain temples of Junagadh are constructed only during medieval times. Even then if I recall there is a record of construction of temple of Ambika in the inscription of Jaina temples. 2/5
Jaina folktales themselves acknowledge that grand Temple of Neminath at Girnar was built by a corrupt Jain governor who appropriated money from the state treasury of the Siddharaj Jaysingh to built the grand temple 3/5
When the great Hindu king found out about it, he forgave corrupt minister in the magnanimity of his heart and waived of the money used from the state treasury. If anything even Jain temples of Girnar exists because of the secular attitude of medieval Hindu rulers. 4/5
Jains in Gujarat know about this all and have never aggressively contested sanctity of Girnar for Hindus. It is outsiders who try to stir trouble (likely because it’s election time?) Jai Girnar 🙏5/5
(PS: Shrine on the top is Guru Dattatreya temple)
