πŸ“– Book: Civil Democratic Islam - Partners, Resources and Strategies by Cheryl Benard 🧡
Download link: rand.org
Special thanks to brother @OmarAbbasHyat for suggesting this book in his tweet:
For today, I'll only comment on SUMMARY chapter. Inshallah will update more as I read more.
This book is such a huge L that even by reading the summary chapter I could find so many big L talking points. First time in my life to find toooooo many Ls in a summary chapter of a book lol
Not even the Communist Manifesto is such a big L at the absolute beginning of the book (I'm anti-communist/ex-communist).

πŸ“– SUMMARY chapter of Civil Democratic Islam - Partners, Resources and Strategies by Cheryl Benard
πŸ‘‰ POINT 1A
"Clearly, Rich_Muslim_Country_X, the modern industrialized world, and indeed the international community as a whole would prefer a Secular world that is compatible with the rest of the system: ..."
πŸ‘‰ POINT 1B
"... Islamic, economically viable, politically stable, morally advanced, and follows the rules and norms of international conduct."
1. Now, how condescending does this language sound?
πŸ‘‰ POINT 1C
2. How hypocritical is it to assume international community is democratic? The definition of international community is communities all around the world. Anyone who needs any further explanation on point 2 is an absolute hypocrite.
πŸ‘‰ POINT 1D
3. Economically viable is defined as not depending on riba/interest.
πŸ‘‰ POINT 1E
4. Morally advanced means an experiment, both qualitatively & quantitatively, has proven to be of the most successful in terms of morality. ...
πŸ‘‰ POINT 1F
...Example of moral success: treatment of jews in the Ottoman empire VS Europe. The only religion that's the most morally advanced is Islam.
πŸ‘‰ POINT 2A
1. Wait a minute, since when have traditionalists/orthodox Muslims been against innovation? Wasn't it the orthodox Muslim world that made huge progress in the Islamic Renaissance when Europe was in the Dark Ages? ...
πŸ‘‰ POINT 2B
... Oh yes, my cute white masters wanted to liberate me from the "terrors of extremism", hence colonialism is an effective tool in order to destroy Muslim education.
πŸ‘‰ POINT 2C
2. Wait a minute, aren't secularists supposed to be subcategory of "Modern Muslims"? Why the hell are they split into two separate points?
πŸ‘‰ POINT 2D
3. Wait a minimum, isn't secularism defined as a religion as per the latest sociological definition of religion? So, we keep religion (mosque) separate from state, and keep religion (secularism) glued to the state. Noice circular definition ❀
πŸ‘‰ POINT 2E
4. Why is a right to left spectrum implied in this bullet list? In Islam, only one version is accepted, and that is the Orthodox version. Numerous legitimate schools of thought fall under orthodox Islam.
Let's see if they actually use the word "spectrum" later on
πŸ‘‰ POINT 3A
Classic example on publishing "how to reform Muslim society" without studying the basics of Islam. Oh, you (the writer/brainwashed person) mean you know the basics of Islam that aligns with democracy? ...
πŸ‘‰ POINT 3B
... Then you clearly didn't read traditional scholarship across ALL legitimate schools of thought.
πŸ‘‰ POINT 3C
There are many ways to do real reform. Rather than your idiotic hijab burning, invest into actual skill development. Reforming politically without reforming economically is civilizational destruction - the same old colonial playbook.
πŸ‘‰ POINT 4A
Translation:
1. "Youth" - brainwash the youth with secularism as an unquestionable cult
2. "Curriculum of Islamic education" - do not teach about married polygamy, but teach about unmarried lgbt polygamy
πŸ‘‰ POINT 4B
Translation:
3. "Independent civic organizations" - with funding from military industrial complex, fully independent from Muslim governments but dependent upon the whims of white masters
πŸ‘‰ POINT 4C
Contradiction:
Aren't orthodox Muslims the ones with less resources. Saying subtly that modernists lack resources is:
1. A sophisticated lie to play fake victimhood ...
πŸ‘‰ POINT 4D
... 2. Avoiding questioning modernist Muslims about where the funds go? Whether the funds go to the luxury lifestyles of western-funded NGO employees or to the actually needy population?
πŸ‘‰ POINT 5A
1. "Traditionalists against the fundamentalists" - always support the closet liberals against conservative voices
πŸ‘‰ POINT 5B
2. "Increase the presence and profile of modernists (closet liberal Christians) in traditionalist institutions (conservative Christian institutions)." - How condescending does this language sound after exact quotation, when not applying in an Islamic context?
πŸ‘‰ POINT 5C
3. No legitimate school of thought in islam is liberal or closet liberal.
πŸ‘‰ POINT 6
1. "Reveal their linkages to illegal groups and activities", such as revealing about US funded coup d'Γ©tat
2. Translation of "women": fembint
3. Do not promote jihad, said in a subtle way
πŸ‘‰ POINT 7A
1. Why is "anti-US forces" a concern for Muslims, if the so-called purpose of the research is to help facilitate Muslims? Why isn't the book written from a Muslim perspective? Why is the language so condescending?
πŸ‘‰ POINT 7B
2. Again I repeat, religion & state can never truly be separate. According to modern sociological definition, secularism IS a religion.
