It never ceases to amaze me how many people appear to think that Jesus Christ was some sort of this-wordly revolutionary activist. That is what a lot of people wanted him to be at the time and what he explicitly made clear he wasn't.

He was the incarnate God almighty, the divine logos made flesh. Don't reduce Him to the level of a political activist.

To be clear, I'm not saying that he preached that this world is not important. We're material beings, our behaviour & belief in this world are crucial. But the primary vehicle for this is the body of Christ, the Church, not facile reductions of the gospel to political movements
