Have you ever made du’a for something specific but Allah answered it in a way that you weren’t expecting?
Have you ever felt that your du’as go unanswered?
Hinnah bint Faqud, the wife of Imran (rA) and the mother of Maryam (as), made du’a to Allah for a child.
She made an oath to dedicate this child to worship in the Temple.
When she gave birth to a girl, she was surprised. It was not customary for a female to worship in the Temple, so she did not know if she could fulfill her oath to Allah.
But she stayed committed to her promise despite her du’a not being answered the way she expected. And Allah blessed that girl to become one of the greatest women to walk the Earth: Maryam (as).
The beautiful story of Maryam’s (as) birth reminds us that the result of every du’a is what is best for us.
If we make du’a with full trust that Allah will answer in the best way possible, then not having our prayers answered is a blessing and a mercy in itself—since it is because of His All-Knowing Wisdom.
