My mother worked in a typical easy-going white-collar socialist job. Then, one summer they receive a foreign student through university exchange. They have no idea what to do w/ him. Moreover, they are embarrassed in front of him b/c they do nothing the whole day,
except solving crossword puzzles and chatting. They call me for help: take this guy out, show him the city, take him somewhere, anywhere. But the guy is stubborn: wants to see how self-management works! They all want him out b/c he is destroying their pleasant idleness.
Similar exchange students sent to capitalist countries would be put to work during summer.
That's how the rule of the working class looked in the 1970s.
