Just because they follow you doesn’t mean they will buy from you.
A thread explaining why marketing to a cold audience with ads is more profitable for your business than relying on organic.
We started working with a client last year.
She had over 300k subs on YouTube.
But her income had been capped for 12 months.
Even though she was growing organically her income wasn’t.
Why?
This is something no one talks about.
When you build a following online there is only an extremely small % of your following who could and would buy.
Could = have the financial means to pay you.
Would = have the problem your product solves.
Here’s the truth:
1 - 99.9% of your organic audience are likely broke and seeking freebies.
2 - They could be following you for many different reasons. Not because they are interested in buying from you.
When you launch and you get your first batch of customers through the door (usually within the first 3-6 months) you’re then left with all the freebie seekers.
And you’re stuck relying on organic growth to grow your business.
This is dangerous because you aren’t in control.
With ads you have the control.
You can target specific countries and demographics to make sure everyone who sees your ad COULD buy.
You then use the targeting features to get in front of people who WOULD buy.
The % of the audience who COULD & WOULD is so much higher with ads.
PLUS you have scalability.
You aren’t reliant on the algorithm.
Desperately waiting for a video or Tweet to go vira.
And even if it does? Just like before, a majority of that growth will be from people who couldn’t and wouldn’t buy.
Ads are machine-like. Want to scale? No problem.
Increase spend and reach more people who could and would.
So if you have a following and you feel like however much content you post your income isn’t growing as fast as you should… use ads to fuel the growth of your business.
Important: Ads aren’t easy. If you want to scale profitably then you need to leverage skills & experience. It ain’t 2016 anymore.
I’m not saying you can’t make money from your following (ofc you can).
But long term if you really want to scale you need to invest in paid advertising.
Or at least a channel that can get you in front of new (targeted) eyeballs faster than organic growth.
Don’t become a slave to the algorithm.
