Give me 60 seconds and I'll boost your social skills more than a 4-year degree in psychology.
1. Listen actively
When having a conversation, try to focus less on how to respond, and focus on actually listening to what the other person has to say.
Doing this will make you seem more authentic and enable you to connect better with the other person.
You'll notice you will pick up on stuff that would usually go over your head.
2. Maintain Eye-contact
This is something you'll notice all sociable and likeable people have in common.
Maintaining eye-contact makes others respect you.
It shows that you are engaged in a conversation and not thinking about something else.
3. Body language
90% of communication is subconsciously linked to your body language. It is actually more important than what you say.
Make sure that you present yourself in a confident way.
Do this;
• Maintain good posture
• Use hand gastures to express yourself
• Don't fidget around and keep yourself calm and collected.
4. Put down your phone
While talking to others, learn to stop escaping into your phone when the conversation gets dry.
It shows lack of confidence and causes you to feel more anxious later on.
5. Compliment people
This is one of the best ways to break the ice with people. Everybody enjoys getting complemented, so start using it to your advantage.
Important - you don't want to over do it.
Make sure that what you're saying doesn't come off as forced and don't go around complementing everyone all the time. Make it subtle and people will notice.
