C-section babies have increase risk of respiratory infections, asthma & autoimmune. Some due to the lack of microbiome transfer from mother's fluids during delivery.
If pregnant, pre-conceiving or had a baby.
Here's what you can do to restore biome in the first months:
🧵
1 - Vaginal Seeding: is a medical procedure in which infants born by C-section are swabbed immediately after birth with vaginal secretions from the mother.
Discuss with your midwife, doula or obgyn to include in your birthing plan.
2 - Breastfeeding: restores some of gut microbiota in caesarean section infants and lowered the infection risk in early life.

3.1 - Formula: make your own.
Making your own formula gives you the power to choose higher quality micronutrients and milk.
Adding amino acids like taurine or sugars like inositol should be looked into.

3.2: Formula: Enhance to optimize
In order to support microbiome, I highly recommend discussing adding COLOSTRUM to all formulas.
Colostrum is prebiotic, anti-bacterial, restores leaky gut, reduces movement toxins in bloodstream. I like goat.

4. Presence of siblings/other children
A positive correlation between numbers of older siblings and richness and bacterial diversity within the phyla of Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes at 18 months of age has been described recently.

To summarize, if you have to delivery through c-section, make sure you are doing the following steps to enhance babies microbiome so he/she can thrive:
- Vaginal Seeding
- Breastfeed
- Make your own formula
- Add colostrum
- Be present around family and friends.
Of course special mention for the outdoors and playing in dirt!
