Agni Vs Brahma
The Murtis of Brahma & Agni can confuse the best of the Scholars due to their striking similarities. Their identification becomes more difficult for the loss of details during Islamic Invasions.

This murti named as “Brahma” is from the ASI museum Gwalior. They must have identified it as Brahma because of the prominent visible three heads.

But when you look at the right of the feet of murti, it is not the Hamsa (Swan), the vahana of Brahma but the Ajha (RAM), the Vahana of Agni. Thus, the murti is “Agni”.
Then what about the three heads? Is a big question.

further Atharva Veda says that the he is present on Earth as fire, in atmosphere as lightning and in the sky as Sun.
So, the three heads represent the 3 forms of Agni – Sun, Fire & Lightning.
