An absolutely spectacular illuminated page from a 1562 (modified and expanded in 1583) Safavid (and later Ottoman, it would appear) copy of the Shāhnāmah, truly one of the grandest pieces of Islamicate book art I've yet come across (BMFA 14.692)!
I love the interplay of the monumentality and vividness of the overall design with the delicacy of the calligraphy and the floral designs within, it's just a masterpiece:
If there are any art historians out there who know more about the history and creation process of this manuscript I'd love to hear more, my cursory search didn't turn up much, though this concluding miniature looks pretty clearly Ottoman to me:
