Bill Gates has spent $6 BILLION on influencing agriculture globally, with a key focus of influence in Africa…
HERE'S THE REAL REASON WHY🧵
"To support farmers & governments in sub-Saharan Africa & South Asia that are seeking a sustainable, inclusive agricultural transformation—one that creates economic opportunity, respects limits on natural resources, and gives everyone equal access to affordable, nutritious food.”
This elegant summary was taken directly from the Gates foundation website. Sounds promising right?
Well I am here to tell you that this statement couldn’t be further from the truth of what is actually occurring.
For starters, Africa is of extreme interest due to its immense amount arable land.
Sub-Saharan Africa contains roughly 25% of the world’s arable land (farmable land) but only accounts for 10% of the world’s agricultural output.
Aka immense opportunity for growth
The real plan of the Gate’s “Green Revolution” in Africa is to transition farmers away from traditional seeds & farming method & implement use of patented GMO seeds with heavy synthetic fertilizer use in a mono-crop system…aka “high input/high output” industrial farming.
This system has been used in the U.S. since the mid-20th century and it is absolutely devastating for soil health.
Although it produces higher yields in the short term, it destroys biodiversity, worsens land resilience & eventually leads to lower yields due to soil degradation.
African farmers do have low farming yields, which is mostly a result of the farmer receiving a very low percentage of the final traded price for their crops, lack of modern machinery for seeding crops and building structures, and lack of education about soil health.
It is clear that investors like Gates are not attempting to solve the root cause of their yield issues, but instead convert them to a industrial farming system which will make them far more money.
Gates is heavily invested in GMO seed and fertilizer companies…
Through groups like the Consulative Group of International Agriculture Research (CGIAR) & the Crop Trust.
Gates is the largest funder of the CGIAR & has pledged to 2.5x their annual budget from $850M to $2B…
So what do they even do?
The CGIAR is a consortium of 15 international ag research centers.
It managed a gene bank for seeds that currently has over 750,000 accessions of farmers seeds.
Why is this an issue?
Gates has accelerated the transfer of research & seeds from scientific research institutions to Agribiz corporations, centralizing & facilitating the pirating of IP & seed monopolies through influencing regulation.
Gates has given over $700M to the CGIAR since 2003
Biodiversity and seed knowledge is the essence of small farmers livelihood. Gates is destroying this.
He also funds other groups such as DivSeek, which maps genetic data of seeds with the goal of PATENTING them.
A Patent is able to be monetized, and cripples the small farmer.
Through his immense funding of these groups Gates:
-is enabling Big Ag to monopolize the seed industry through patents and gene mapping
-robbing small farmers of their natural IP and ability to stay competitive
-influencing legislation to allow the above to take place
Bill Gates does not have Africa’s or the planet’s best interest in mind, he only cares about increasing his global control & his ROI.
However, don’t take my word for it, listen to some public outcries made from major African farming groups:
“Big Farming is No Solution for Africa...The Gates Foundation promotes a model of industrial monoculture farming and food processing that is not sustaining our people. It reduces our resilience by depleting and destroying natural soil fertility, water resources…
and our rich biodiversity and genetic capital...The Gates Foundation encourages African farmers to adopt a high input–high output approach…It puts pressure on farmers to grow just one or a few crops based on commercial high-yielding or genetically modified (GM) seeds…
nutritional health in households declines and farmers are forced to sell off their land or scale up single crop production.” -Southern African Faith Communities’ Institute (SAFCEI), which was endorsed by over 500 African Faith Leaders
“We are here to state clearly and categorically that the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa does not speak for Africans.” -Anne Maina, Director of the Biodiversity and Biosafety Association of Kenya
There is more, but one thing is clear…real African farmers want nothing to do with Gates's vision.
It’s obvious that his intentions are not genuine, and are merely for economic reasons.
Even more terrifying, Gates is now the largest private landholder in the US. Amassing over a quarter million acres.
Why? Nobody knows for certain, but theories are rampant. Stay tuned for my thoughts 😈
Bill Gates
✅biopiracy of seeds
✅lining pockets of Big Ag
✅influencing legislation
✅influencing education
✅destroying biodiversity and soil
✅accelerating centralization
✅ruining farming tradition
