African farmers do have low farming yields, which is mostly a result of the farmer receiving a very low percentage of the final traded price for their crops, lack of modern machinery for seeding crops and building structures, and lack of education about soil health.
It is clear that investors like Gates are not attempting to solve the root cause of their yield issues, but instead convert them to a industrial farming system which will make them far more money.

The CGIAR is a consortium of 15 international ag research centers.
It managed a gene bank for seeds that currently has over 750,000 accessions of farmers seeds.
Why is this an issue?

Through his immense funding of these groups Gates:
-is enabling Big Ag to monopolize the seed industry through patents and gene mapping
-robbing small farmers of their natural IP and ability to stay competitive
-influencing legislation to allow the above to take place

Bill Gates does not have Africa’s or the planet’s best interest in mind, he only cares about increasing his global control & his ROI.
However, don’t take my word for it, listen to some public outcries made from major African farming groups:
However, don’t take my word for it, listen to some public outcries made from major African farming groups:
“Big Farming is No Solution for Africa...The Gates Foundation promotes a model of industrial monoculture farming and food processing that is not sustaining our people. It reduces our resilience by depleting and destroying natural soil fertility, water resources…
and our rich biodiversity and genetic capital...The Gates Foundation encourages African farmers to adopt a high input–high output approach…It puts pressure on farmers to grow just one or a few crops based on commercial high-yielding or genetically modified (GM) seeds…
nutritional health in households declines and farmers are forced to sell off their land or scale up single crop production.” -Southern African Faith Communities’ Institute (SAFCEI), which was endorsed by over 500 African Faith Leaders
“We are here to state clearly and categorically that the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa does not speak for Africans.” -Anne Maina, Director of the Biodiversity and Biosafety Association of Kenya
There is more, but one thing is clear…real African farmers want nothing to do with Gates's vision.
It’s obvious that his intentions are not genuine, and are merely for economic reasons.
