How to make $5,000/month on YouTube as a beginner (starting with only $50)
- Thread -
Making $5,000 a month with just $50 seems like a scam, right?
It usually is, unless it’s spent building a YouTube channel
I started my channel with just $50 and now it’s made me over $250K
Here’s how I would replicate my success and scale a channel to $5k/mo in 2023
1. Identify a popular topic
Making videos people are interested in is the easiest way to grow
That’s why crypto channels took off in 2021
For 2023, some hot topics will be:
- Make money online
- Saving money
- Travel
- Gaming
If you want some other niche ideas, start here:
2. Assess production costs
To run a profitable YouTube channel
Revenue > Costs
Most channels can be started with less than $50
Let’s use the channel Saving Savers as an example
This channel makes $5,000+ per month:
Production costs:
Video: StoryBlocks for footage ($20/mo)
Audio: Smartphone Mic (Free)
Script: Self-published (Free)
Thumbnails: Canva (Free)
If you’re willing to do the work you can recreate this for less than $20/mo
Or you can outsource it all for around $50
3. Identify monetization options
Before you start a channel
You need to know how you will monetize it
The most effective ways are:
- Courses
- Affiliates
- Services
There are tons of small channels
Making $5,000 or more per month
Here’s how Saving Savers does it…
1. Post high interest/search related video (SSP3)
2. Place affiliate link in video’s description and pinned comment
3. Reference offer in video
$50 commission
X 1% conversion
X 10,000 views
= $5,000/mo
4. Perform video research
To find profitable videos to make you have three options:
1. Remake popular videos
2. Target “cracks”
3. Rank for low-competition keywords
I use TubeBuddy to find keywords and aim for a score of 70 or higher
Here’s an example related to this channel:
5. Create sustainable content plan
To build your channel and continue making money you need a plan
Once you know how long one video takes
Schedule time into your week for content creation
Alternatively you can outsource the parts you lack the time for
Here’s how:
First, identify what activities you want to outsource
Next, go to Upwork and create an account
Then, post a job and receive applications
Ask for demo of work and hire accordingly
There’s no excuse why you can’t make this work…
