1/ Earlier this year @kimanncurtin posited the idea that I take time off once a week or once every two weeks because I was getting so stressed but I couldn't fathom it. I felt like what made me who I am today was relentless participation in the markets.
I just couldn't.
I just couldn't.
2/ I tried taking baby steps after getting my account getting bludgeoned to death forcing the market and was surprised by the outcomes.
I was able to take care of a lot of the things I felt I had no time for, which helped me feel less pressure during trading days.

3/ I was able to complete loftier projects because I had the energy to do so and it inspired me to think about the possibilities of taking a shorter work week. How could I use this time to better my relationships and do other important things?
For ex. I did a full 3 yr review.

4/ Prior to this year I took 0 breaks & hustled hard, but it left me feeling burnt out and exhausted.
This year I’m taking much more time off, I plan to take at least one day per week off & maybe two.
This is really something I’ve not been able to pull the trigger on till now.

5/ I think it’s great to put your entire focus and energy into something but don’t forget why we do this. Sometimes you can even get a better result by limiting your exposure (re: aspirations of high level trading).
I realize now that I earned the right to take time off.

6/ Years and years of practice and sacrifice, I don’t miss anything but not participating for a day or two.
The skills we build and hone in on allow us to have confidence in your abilities, that’s the goal- then freeing up time.

7/ From @KrisAbdelmessih blog I saved this quote:
8/ How can we ever be financially free if we are literally playing with and for money 5 days a week or more in some cases?
I know it might not be the right message for some of us who haven’t built up the abilities yet but it’s good to acknowledge and think about for the future.

9/ I’ve always been fascinated by what lay on the other side of success and have always asked of others and myself what that might look like.
My father died young (60) from working way too hard and I get some tendencies from him.

10/ From what I gather, his father also worked intensely too, didn’t know him. Kim shared the idea that we inherit some genetic predisposition. I don’t blame them, first generations in America as immigrants, working hard to provide opportunity for their families.
11/ Breaking the cycle is where I come in, and perhaps you too.
Trading allows us to really live life on our own terms.
When I see success in anything I see the sacrifices made before I see the victories. It always goes deeper than the outcome.

12/ I personally always took note and appreciated when I saw people I look up to take time off. It showed me that it’s possible to let go and become more well rounded.
When I’m on I’m putting in 150% and when I need to I’m still working more intensely than ever, make no mistake.

13/ Successful traders need to dedicate every bit of their soul and energy into this craft AND for a sustained period of YEARS, not months.
Push yourself as hard as you can so you can have confidence in yourself and your skills.
This might just be food for thought.
