🚨 Biggest things that helped me get over the hump and become a consistently profitable trader 🚨
#1 I found a system that works for me.
I tried everything there was, seen a bunch of traders that go crazy using a lot of different strategies. For some reason none of them
seemed to work for me.
When I started using Supply&Demand I realized it worked so well for me because it keeps things simple. For me, having too much going on just distracts me and doesn’t allow me to simply trade the price action and volume. It also gives me defined spots that
my trade Is invalidated.
I used to draw new lines or switch timeframes for more EMA’s to convince myself I could still be right when I was in a losing trade. This is a recipe for disaster. With S/D if it breaks my zone I know I’m wrong and I get out right away or even before.
You are your biggest enemy. If you find yourself repeatedly doing bad habits then you need a system that ultimately takes that possibility away from you.
#2 Stopped chasing and having FOMO.
This was an important one. I was really really bad at chasing plays because I
had FOMO. Every single time i chased I would end up getting cooked and would be mad at myself because I knew it was dumb. I simply told myself if I want to win I can’t do that shit anymore. I put a sticky note on my monitor that says “DONT FUCKING CHASE” as a subtle reminder.
I stopped giving a shit what other traders were doing. I found something that worked for me and I stuck to it. I didn’t care if I saw Bob on Twitter had a PR day while I had a bad day. That doesn’t matter, everybody’s system is different and you can only worry about YOU and how
YOU executed.
#3 I stopped trying to trade a shit ton of different tickers everyday. I made my self trade $SPY only for 2 months straight. Didn’t even look at another ticker. This really allowed me to dial in my strategy and really understand how $SPY moves so I could trade it
every single day and have a good chance at being profitable. Previously, I was so scared to miss any move that I would try to watch 20 charts a day. I quickly realized that all that was doing was holding me back. I know some traders that do that plus more and are great traders
and that’s great. But I had to realize that just because some great traders do that doesn’t mean that it works for me.
#4 Started trading for risk/reward, not win %.
As I have grown, my win percentage is pretty good, but even when it wasn’t I was still profitable. Trading
isn’t about winning every trade. It’s about taking high probability setups with great risk reward. If I do that and lose on the trade, that’s fine. It’s apart of the game. but I know with my system, If I keep my losers really small then it only takes 1 trade to make all that back
plus some. So I stopped being hesitant because I didn’t want to lose a trade. I will automatically accept a 10-15% loss when I enter a trade. I know if the risk/reward and setup is there I need to take that trade every time. If not then it lowers my probabilities.
#5 and perhaps the most important. I learned to trade with as little emotions as possible. I am simply trading the chart, not letting my emotions make a decision for me. This is truly the most important part if you want to be in this game long term. I bet you can think back to
any red day you’ve had and it’s most likely a direct result of you trading with your emotions.
Chasing, oversizing, over trading and giving back gains, revenge trading ect.
These are all a direct result of you letting your emotions make decisions for you.
Fear, anger, greed. All are a traders worst nightmare. When I got rid of these, That’s when I truly started to level up. Read “Trading in the zone by Mark Douglas” this book honestly changed my career. This is definitely the hardest thing to do in trading IMO but once
you figure it out. You’ll see your account start to grow exponentially.
If you’ve read this far, I hope it helps. I bet some of you have gone through some of the same things.
For me, doing these things is what truly helped me change my life with trading 🤘🏼
