/2 In October, the US District Court for the Middle District of Alabama quashed the unprecedented subpoena in a total rebuke of the DOJ.
On October 26, AFL filed a FOIA request with the DOJ to find out who ordered the subpoena.

/3 Specifically, AFL requested “All communications, including attachments, containing “Eagle Forum of Alabama” with any Department of Justice employee at main Justice.”
/4 On November 9, the DOJ produced the requested records…except they redacted a whopping 169 pages of a 173 page production.
/5 The DOJ claimed this was all privileged or private information, which stretches the limits of these exemptions far past their ordinary meanings.
