Fmr COAS Lt Gen Minimah (rtd) was to lead the operation himself as the new Chief.
Trust me, you'd never want to miss those kind of operations. With COAS? We die there.
We arrived Maimalari , briefing as usual (we are Soldiers).

The following day, some Soldiers are to join us for the operation.
Funny enough, majority of them are just being nominated from their unit, that's their first time coming to Maiduguri.

Went straight to Div HQ, meeting first with senior officers before meeting the Soldiers.

As someone who had already been in the frontline for 3+ years at that period, I'm not new to anything at all.

The toughest task of our lives was when we entered Capm-Zairo after combing all the Alafas.
Gun duels for hours, some tanks entered Landmines, Air strike dropping like water.

After few hours, I saw Volkswagen cars over 39 coming with full headlamp on, guess what?
