Do you know who is called “Vedvyas”?
‘Ved Vyas’ is not a name, it’s a ‘Title’ given to the compiler of Vedas.
The word "Vyas" refers to the "compiler," or "arranger" and it also means "separation," or "division.
Therefore, Veda Vyāsa is the title given to the Rishi (sage) who comes at the end of every Dvapara Yuga to divide and compile the one ‘Ved’ into four and compile the Puranas.
(keep in mind that currently, we are in the Kaliyuga of the 28th Mahayuga of the 7th manvantara
of fourteen, which is ruled by ‘Vaivasvata Manu’. each manvanara has 71 Mahayuga.. which means (29 to 71) 43 Mahayug are still remaining in this manvantara)
In this present ‘Vaivasvata Manvantara’, there have been twenty-eight Dvapara Yugas and
therefore Twenty-eight times have the Vedas been arranged by the great Rishis hence there are twenty-eight individuals who have held the title of ‘Vedvyas’.
In the 28th Mahayuga (current), ‘Krishna Dvaipāyana’ the author of Mahabharata and the grandfather of the
Pandavas, has the title of ‘Vedvyas’
