42 year old Thevar caste mother strangled her 19 year old daughter to death for being in love with a Nadar caste boy in #TamilNadu . They come from a very poor background,she is the only daughter and mother felt caste is more important than her daughter's life.
Both belong to MBC. This #Honourkilling happened at Seevaleperi in the Tirunelveli District. The father of the girl is lorry driver .The girl was studying nursing at Coimbatore that's where she befriended the boy .The mother took her back to Tirunelveli and killed her at home.
When we speak about caste we always imagine men ,but Dominant caste women can be to the core Casteist and they are guards of Casteism in families .That's why we talk about caste mentality of women and how women seeking gender justice can be Casteist too.
Also it's high time ,I demand the @CMOTamilnadu to pass the Honour killing draft bill ."The Freedom of Marriage and Association and Prohibition of Crimes in the Name of Honour Act 2022". Is the need of the moment.
