The past year was a big one for development of tools to help us do a better job at SEO.
I tested out a ton of new SEO tools. Here's my top 10 (both free & paid) to use in 2023:
Test & share with others🧵👇
1/ Google Trends extension by @meetglimpse
Glimpse is a new chrome extension that every SEO professional should test out. Enable the extension to see an overlay of the data, including search volume, a topic map + more.
Install: chrome.google.com
2/ SERP Similarity by @keywordinsights
A brand new tool that's perfect for keyword research fans. Complete a live lookup of search results to see how similar they are for those keywords.
Free & unlimited usages, test it out! keywordinsights.ai
3/ Calendar View by @ahrefs
The team at Ahrefs have been on fire this past year with tool releases, and Calendar View is a good example of this. Visualise keyword position changes in a calendar - select month/day in red/green.
Check out the tutorial:
4/ People Also Asked tool by @AlsoAsked
This tool was out of action for a bit, but I was very glad to see it make a comeback earlier in the year. Allows you to find the questions that people ask on Google through PAA results.
Test it out: alsoasked.com
5/ Network Graph by @semrush
A recent addition in the Semrush dashboard, Network Graph allows you to see an interactive chart with a birds eye view of a sites link network. No addition charge for existing subscriptions (which is great!)

6/ URL Inspection API by @screamingfrog
The SF team were quick to add integration of the URL Inspection API to their toolset when released. Recently turning 12 years old, they have solidified themselves in the top SEO tools list for many.
See tutorial:
7/ URL Inspection in Sheets via @bertiecharlton
As an alternative for the URL Inspection API, Keywords in Sheets have an awesome template you can put to use. Instructions can be found here: keywordsinsheets.com
Here's the template in action:
8/ Nested JSON by @jsoncrack
A less obvious choice for inclusion in my list, but a great tool for Structured Data fans to visualise their implementation. Copy/paste files and see cool graphs.
It's free & easy to use: jsoncrack.com
9/ New tools in @googlesearchc
In a league of their own, but still well-worth highlighting in my list. Google Search Console have had a ton of great releases this year, thanks for this @danielwaisberg, @JohnMu & team.
Looking forward to the year ahead!
10/ SERP Features by @awebranking
AWR are generally the first to add new SERP features in their tracking tools, and I need to commend them for that. For Web Stories, free product listings, indented results & more.
Make sure to check them out: advancedwebranking.com
