Redoing your personal website in 2023?
Here are 7 different design styles (+ examples) for inspiration:
1/ Cartoon Style
@APompliano is one of the best examples I know of a creator that is probably more well-known on social as the "cartoon" version of himself than actual pictures.
Very cool (and easy) style anyone can replicate.
• Fun
• Accessible
• "Meme"-worthy
2/ Serious Style
@thejustinwelsh only uses a few pics of himself, but they all communicate the same thing:
"I know what I'm talking about—and I'm not going to waste your time."
• Minimalist
• Easy to understand
• Implied credibility
3/ Stealth Style
@thedankoe has a few pictures of himself (and a YouTube channel), but most of his site/content isn't about "him."
It's about his content/mission.
• Black & White
• Content-first
This is a good choice for creators who want to be more "behind the scenes."
4/ Speaker Style
@Codie_Sanchez has loads of business credibility, and immediately on her site uses a photo of her speaking to communicate that.
(Very common tactic for entrepreneurs who also regularly "speak.")
• Personality-first
• Smiling = accessible
5/ Writer Style
@stephsmithio has very few pictures on her site.
Instead, it's mostly text—and it works really well.
• More traditional blog style
• Focus on content, not personality
• Feels more "evergreen"
6/ Text Editor Style
@ljin18 is a terrific example of a creator who rarely uses "imagery" to communicate credibility.
And instead, does so almost exclusively through text/her writing.
• Total emphasis on content
• Website is a "mastery library" of work
7/ Sales Page Style
Finally, @OneJKMolina has one of my favorite styles of websites ever.
0 personality, 100% direct response copywriting.
• If you click the left button, you can download 1 free asset.
• Click the right button and download a different asset.
So cool.
