@yatertots98 @Lalotorres_etc @AverageGirlArt @DogmaDirector @dinosaurs1969 Math does not "stop working." It's correct that it is a convention. It is agreed upon by consensus. It isn't a property of the numbers or what they represent.
@yatertots98 @Lalotorres_etc @AverageGirlArt @DogmaDirector @dinosaurs1969 If you changed the order of operations you would simply rewrite the equation differently by the way. The operations themselves would remain the same.
@yatertots98 @Lalotorres_etc @AverageGirlArt @DogmaDirector @dinosaurs1969 For example, you could scrap the order of operations and invent a brand new rule - entirely arbitrarily - that all equations must be written in a single line and that you follow left to right.
@yatertots98 @Lalotorres_etc @AverageGirlArt @DogmaDirector @dinosaurs1969 Using the new rule, you'd be required to solve it as the people did in the mistake.
If you wanted the original outcome, you'd be required to rewrite the equation. But the actual operations would be the same.
