Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj's Maternal Grandfather, the Great "JaduRay Dakkhani". Father of Rajmata Jijabai. Maharaja Lakshmanasimharaje (Lakhuji) Jadhavrao. Mughals called Him "KΔnatiya" due to His direct descent from Bhagwan Shri Krishna. Most powerful Head of Deccan Armies.
This is a FIXED version of the Shah Jahan Era commissioned painting of the highest ranking Mughal Empire Noblemen. It was only after the Maratha Maharaja Lakhujiraje Jadhavrao joined Shah Jahan, that Mughals could conquer Deccan by defeating the famous Malik Babur Ambar.
This painting is from a series of paintings made at Delhi around 1800 CE to fix on the earlier Mughal Series in royal albums, acquired by William Fraser, who arrived in India in 1802 CE during height of Maratha-British tensions. Therefore this is a rare find.
Left Side, the original contemporary painting with drained colours. Right Side, the fixed version commissioned in 1800 CE. This newer fixed Right Version was auctioned off by Sothebys. This has been brought to attention in mainstream for the first time by The Mahrattas alone.
