People make millions of dollars off of violent video games that capitalize on and glorify suffering and slaughter and often propagandize Western militarism. While there may be critique of the violence, where is the righteous indignation about their profit?
@vivekagnihotri makes a profit off of art (not even close to the profit made by American directors) that gives expression to the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Hindus, the rape, theft, and slaughter carried out by their Muslim friends & neighbors, and his profit is unethical?
Why are people okay rewarding the production and sale of unethical commercial products that promote violence but clutch their pearls when an artist does well, especially when members of the persecuted community he has represented are happy for his success?
Are these same ppl outraged about film makers, writers, and scholars who make a profit and career out of ERASING Hindu genocides, like the ones in Kashmir, Bhutan and Bangladesh? Is their work called out by the same ppl as Islamist government propaganda?
(Rhetorical questions.)
Why do we expect people who do good works (artists, public school teachers, social workers) to subsists off of the nobility of their work, and think it is β€œnatural” for those engaged in work that isn’t directly connected to social good (barring doctors) to make a lot of money?
