Some of the famous mountains mentioned in our scriptures. Some are in our country while others are more cosmic in nature.

Markandeya and other puranas mention a list of Kulparvatas (a family of mountains) that were of high significance. Here are seven of the prominent ones.
Himalayas are the king of mountains, father-in-law of Shiv. Mahendra parvat is the abode of sage Parashuram, Malay Parvat is where Manu's boat stopped after the great flood.
Vindhya parvat has the great story of sage Agatsya associated with it. Once it was growing in size challenging the divine Mount Meru. It grew so big in size that it blocked the Sun.
At the request of gods, sage Agatsya went to the mountain and asked him to stop growing and let him pass and not to grow until he comes south. Vindhya honored the sage and stopped growing and waited till he returned. But Agatsya never returned and thus Sun was obliged.

There are mention of many cosmic and mysterious mountains in our scriptures. One of those is Mount Mainak that finds mention in Sundar Kand of Ramayana where it offers its help to Hanuman and requests him to take rest on it for some time.
Bit Hanumaji replies that he cant take rest till he finds out about Sita and to honor the request, he just touches the mountain with his feet as he jumps over it.
Mainak was son of Himalaya and was once a mobile mountain but its wings were chopped and Vayu submerged it into the ocean. There is mention of Mount Meru the mountain of gods that is said to be of golden color.
Then who can forget the cosmic mountain Mandar using which the famous churning of milky ocean took place. Lets pray to these mountains that it grants us stability and heights of achievements in our life.
