John Mearsheimer is a hypocrite.
He opposes USA's proxy war against Russia for fear it might lead to nuclear escalation.
Yet he believes America should contain China & prevent Taiwan's reunification with the Chinese mainland.
Doesn't he know that China is also a nuclear power?

In interviews, Mearhseimer repeated his fear of nuclear escalation with Russia as the reason for his opposition to America's proxy war in Ukraine.
So it seems like he thinks America's war with China will be limited to China's backyard & will not escalate into nuclear conflict.

If Mearsheimer thinks the U.S. could wage war with China over Taiwan while the American homeland remains unscathed, then he is sorely mistaken.
China may not have a first strike nuclear policy. But the PLA has many other means to bring war & destruction to the American homeland.

China has no need to resort to nukes in order to defeat the USA.
The chance of the USA winning against China in a war over Taiwan is close to 0%.
The real concern over nuclear escalation is IF the USA resorts to using nuclear FIRST, forcing China to retaliate with the same.
