@ghostofUGK @jamadagnisri @kakatiyawarlord @Tumbl1n_M0nk3y @Aprameyah_ @advaitauprising Siddhānta used to be led by Ādiśaiva & Mahāśaiva Ācāryas. There were takeovers by both Advaitīs & more importantly in the 14th century, by the Ādhīnams, which disenfranchised the Ādiśaivas & caused the Mahāśaivas to be absorbed into a śākta-Advaita-Smārta fold.
@ghostofUGK @jamadagnisri @kakatiyawarlord @Tumbl1n_M0nk3y @Aprameyah_ @advaitauprising You can see the difference in outcomes for Ādiśaivas & Pāñcarātrikas. The latter had a large lay (lay with respect to temple ritualism) Smārta population which had converted to Rāmānuja-mata.
@ghostofUGK @jamadagnisri @kakatiyawarlord @Tumbl1n_M0nk3y @Aprameyah_ @advaitauprising The latter is being sustained by a large V1 population while the former has to rely on a devout non-V1 population, which wouldn’t be a problem if not for historical caste dynamics as well as the pressure by some unscrupulous groups on the Ādiśaivas to cut off from other V1s.
@ghostofUGK @jamadagnisri @kakatiyawarlord @Tumbl1n_M0nk3y @Aprameyah_ @advaitauprising Then again, if you see the attitudes of some of the Smārta/Advaitī greats of the past towards Ādiśaivas, it’s utterly condescending & reprehensible.
