Iranian protesters are distressed by this news. Some says there is no exclusive Guard Police unit to be disbanded. Its a state run program. If you at all wants to move-on, you would uplift the hijab ban & other regressive laws, not just the monitoring.

Also the protesters demanded to current regime to step down and reform the laws. Not sure exactly but NYT or CNN was the leading media houses which published this “disbanding” news prematurely, & rest of the world followed.
