Tableau or Power BI?
There is one CLEAR winner if you are just beginning to learn one
/๐Ÿงต/
Both Tableau and Power BI are important Business Intelligence tool
They help you in data analysis, data manipulation, and data visualization
Even though I wrote this thread for people getting into data, I have also considered other factors which will help you in the long run
Iโ€™m going to compare on 5 aspects
1) User-friendliness
2) Performance
3) Cost
4) Synergy with other tools
5) Industry relevance
1/ User-friendliness
Both have easy drag-and-drop functionality
Power BI has an intuitive UI and familiarity from MS Office 365 UI
Tableau has a slightly better User experience
I consider it's a draw in this category
2/ Performance
Tableau can handle large amounts of data
Power BI shows little sign of lag when dealing with high-volume data
Power BI also has limited data source input compared to Tableau
I give to Tableau on performance
3/ Cost
Power BI Desktop for learners and academicians is free!
Even for commercial purposes Power BI costs far less compared to Tableau
If you need BI for your start-up, begin with Power BI and upgrade to tableau later
I'll give it to Power BI in this
4/ Synergy
Tableau provides slightly more programming with python (not available in Power BI)
But, Power BI enjoys support from Microsoft business platform support
That's a better edge over what Tableau provides
5/ Industry relevance
Due to the cost factor, more firms are adopting Power BI rather than Tableau
Its ability to connect in Azure is a huge plus as well
Microsoft has ranked a leader in BI platforms for 13 years
In recent times Power BI has passed over Tableau's popularity as well
So the answer is fairly Straightforward
Power BI โ€“ 3
Tableau - 1
I'm not saying Power BI is superior to Tableau but someone trying to start learning data viz can start with Power BI.
That's a wrap!
