You understand, of course, that there are untold millions of kids and grown-ups who have no knowledge of actual Christianity or their own history but, without any formal education, have detailed knowledge of several theologies and histories within video game and movie universes.
Yes, it is true that there is much debate about the ideas, ideals, & ethics as well as the truth about the past within these universal theologies & histories that millions w/o a real theological/historical education engage in often. Many really care about wut they've been taught.
The media they consume overpowered or took the place of an actual theological or historical education. Many such cases throughout history. The somewhat anomalous aspect is that you and I are supposed to pretend this is all neutral/fine/normal. But it presents a haunting question:
They cannot be wholly blamed for being given an extensive education in consumptive & addictive myths that extract much wealth and cultural power for others.
But why did Americans & Christians allow it to happen? Why did no one *care* it happened? How does this occur, unnoticed?
An extensive, effective educational project in media over the last century is ongoing, continuous, and largely successful. It ceaselessly bombards, shaping hearts & minds. Recreational time has skyrocketed along with our screens: teaching, shaping, forming minds and souls.
But we pretend all this is or can or should be neutral. And that formal education should be neutral too.
Let me suggest that this may have something to do with how we got here. Ignorant of real religion. Ignorant of history. But well versed in myths exchanged for mammon.
