The case of revoking the @tvrain licence in Latvia is a crucial step to recognise the hybrid impact of Russian narratives in Europe. It would be also a test whether EU-partners take Latvia’s security concerns serious enough not to provide a platform for this kind of “journalism”
.@NEPLPadome decision was based on violations:
- no subtitles in state language (!)
- showing Crimea as part of russian territory
- referring to the Russian army as "our army" and expressing support for it
- other info received from the State Security Service, was not disclosed.
“TV Rain does not understand the severity of the violations they have committed,” said the head of NEPLP. As we see from their public statement, it is true. They call all the accusations “unjust and absurd”. Russial denial of reality as it is.
The same reaction we can see in other russian media based in Europe.
Moreover, TV Rain is going to be banned from Youtube by imposing a geoblock on its content for users in Latvia.
Russian journalists can distance thmslvs from the putin and his regime, but they still identify thmslvs as part of russian society that support the russian army, see Crimea as its belonging and believe in russia’s power over others.
Time to learn what it means to live and work under the rule of law and respect other countries.

And before they did not see the point in learning the local language of a country that provided them residence and work permits.
"Russians in Latvia also watched and listened to Dozhd. This allowed them to preserve their culture and language. The termination of Dozhd broadcasting is a blow to the way of life of these people as well: both citizens and non-citizens."
Time to say goodbye to Russkiy mir đź‘‹
another good russian believes that the case when Dozhd violated Latvia’s law will help them win even wider audience and “for Latvia this story is, for sure, shameful”
