THREAD on 'BHIMA KOREGAON & it's 'BHIMFAKERY'
This letter was written by chief secretary of British MILITARY DEPARTMENT to the Deccan Commissioner.This letter is in reference to the conditions laid down for appointing in-charge after erecting the Jayastambh (Military Pillar)

Written on 22-11-1824
Important points of the letter are as follows.
1.The monument should be entrusted to a meritorious soldier who participated in the battle of Koregaon.
2.A suitable person should be selected but the said person should not belong to Parwari (MAHAR) jaati.

3. The person in charge should inform everyone about the column.
4. As long as there is a male descendant, all this responsibility should be assigned to that person
5. The land next to the pillar and the Jamadar post should be given to the said person.

On January 1, 1818, an 'INCONCLUSIVE' battle took place between the British and Maratha forces at Koregaon Bhima. After this battle, Jamadar Khandojibin Gajoji Malvadkar was honored by the then government with general orders, medals, regimental court and he was appointed

"Be it known to you that Government have erected an obelisk on the southern banks of Bheema, in the lands of village Pairna, opposite to the village of Koregaom Purgana Paubal

It further says you are not to permit any ceremony (religious or non religious) is to be instituted
