I felt like the Taibbi revelations were important & useful, but not in as much of a smoking-gun way as some others were trying to make them out to be. But this? This is a mushroom cloud IMO.
We were told again and again that these suppression lists didn't exist, even tho we knew they did. Anyone who complained about the suppression was pilloried as a conspiracy theorists by this platform's prominent "disinfo experts." Elon & Bari have just pantsed a lot of people.
Yes, & the results of this suppression, as we now know (via recent stories on the impact on children's wellbeing... cf @AlecMacGillis's feed for many good examples), have been incredibly devastating. For ppl who are always on about "real harm", this is it.
The suppression of "disinfo" that turned out to be "info" (w/out the "dis"), all in the name of protecting the public from "harm", has contributed to an incalculable amount of harm. Not a one of the ppl involved in this suppression will pay a price or even change their ways.

Right now, the contents of @bendreyfuss's entire feed is premised on a conflation of Twitter's longstanding and very public tools & policies for suppressing abuse & hate speech with these newly officially revealed tools & policies for suppressing political & medical speech.
I suspect this will be the main tactic many will use, so watch for it. I expect to see a lot of folks pointing to anti-abuse & hate speech policies & acting as if they were publicly known to also apply political views, covid takes, & other hot topics. Call it out when u see it.
