@MogTheUrbanite This is the default mode of operation for the various peoples and nations that have held this particular chokepoint. They have basically minmaxxed arbitrage, because they are geographically positioned at the fulcrum of 3 continents.
@MogTheUrbanite Israel/KSA/Muslim Brotherhood have done the most influence peddling to the GOP, while UK/Iran/Europe peddle the DNC.
If the former can't lobby the unipolar power for terms they find equitable, the other option is to shift the paradigm.
@MogTheUrbanite NEOM is the pressure point for KSA signaling how serious about this it's feeling at any particular time. Because instead of laundering petrodollars back into the system via the City of London, they dump them into megaprojects like NEOM, keeping those $ out of circulation.
@MogTheUrbanite But the ultimate trump card is the fact that shifting to a Petroyuan under the skirt of China and by extension Russia is the nuclear option for the implosion of the US economy if the IMF and malthusian ESG retards won't play ball.
@MogTheUrbanite Because with guarantees of protection from CN and RU, KSA/Israel feel confident they won't get Saddam or Gaddafi treatment.
@MogTheUrbanite Imagine trying to do a gulf war 3.0 in KSA lmao, the oil market would die overnight with Russia being one of the only alternatives, as we support Ukraine.
Suddenly China has another "outbreak" as an excuse to kill all shipping. Iran folds over into them bc of BRICS. Syria too.
@MogTheUrbanite This isn't something they lean on lightly because it has a very real chance of escalating into a winner take all scenario of apocalyptic proportions. Which is why they aren't just pulling the trigger and are signaling via NEOM, poking us in the heart so to speak.
@MogTheUrbanite The way to look at the USA in this frame, is that as the unipolar arbiter of power in the world and our military as the guarantor of IMF loans via force, which China is now competing with via belt & road loans, is sort of an empty vessel for other nations to influence.
@MogTheUrbanite Why build your own army if you are a smaller nation when you can curry influence with the US to join NATO or get a US base in your nation, when it's cheaper than building a cold war era army and maintaining it to defend against neighbors?
@MogTheUrbanite So the main signals are Saudi Arabia throwing consistently larger amounts of cash at NEOM, and if you hear about them looking at energy-for-gold, then you know things are getting very serious. Most of the IMF's collateral is european gold sitting in the US physically.
@MogTheUrbanite With Russia squeezing the fuel supply of Europe, if KSA went energy-for-gold it would cause Europe to be forced to repatriate all that gold it's kept in the US for safe keeping, which drains the bank the IMF uses to issue loans.
So there's an escalation chain.
@MogTheUrbanite NEOM->Energy-For-Gold->Petroyuan
Various ways for KSA to say "No I am seriously not kidding, cut the shit out." to the US.
It's also part of the reason for the mad scramble to green energy.
@MogTheUrbanite If the west were to shift into alternative energy to a point where it could negate the sway of OPEC, it's do or die for everyone here in the West that doesn't like globohomo. The good part is, without nuclear that just isn't physically possible.
The attempt would be destructive.
@MogTheUrbanite If the west negates the petrodollar on its own terms, then it's hello CBDC and social credit scores. If KSA negates the petrodollar on its own terms, the US economy folds utterly and hyperinflation sets in. It's a staring contest to see who will rock the boat as they inch closer.
