At long last, the thread you have all been waiting for. The singular reason you follow this account. The most important thing you will read this year. I am going to lift the veil from your benighted eyes. I present: the difference between a raven and a crow
To begin, the common raven is larger. A raven has a wingspan of up to 53 inches, while a crow measures in at 39. A raven’s beak is thicker, with nasal feathers extending further. A crow has a smaller, more pointed beak. Crows have fan shaped tails, ravens are wedge shaped
A group of crows is called a murder, while a pair of ravens is called a conspiracy and a larger group is called an unkindness. Their call is also different, a crow making a rhythmic “caw” while a raven a deeper “croak”
Their ranges do overlap in North America, but they also have their own separate ranges where they are not found together
Finally, crows and ravens, along with other corvids, are highly intelligent. Ravens have been observed to be better problem solvers and can mimic other bird calls, as well as human speech. Crows are better at recognizing faces, and have been known to “gift objects” to humans
