The 12 Horrors of Christmas
The 1st Horror: SANTA EVIL CLAUS
I first heard the story of Santa Claus when I was just a babe. My mama told me that he always came at night. He would come through the chimney so no one would see him and drop off our gifts.
I began to doubt his existence when I clocked 7. Never for once had I seen him before. I asked my mama how the letters got to him. There was no address nor were my letters ever mailed.
The more I questioned my mama the less answers I received, so I decided to find out for myself.
It was Christmas Eve and I was ready to confirm my suspicion. I set up camp in the living room and got to work.
The chimney was his way in according to mama so I set up my trap there. I ensured to scatter beads evenly all around the floor.
He wouldn't be getting in without tripping on the beads and when that happens, Crystal would give her signature howl just in case I fell asleep.
As if she could hear me, Crystal entered the room at that very moment, wiggling her tail and rubbing her body on mine.
"Hey there my sweet pea" I said
"I'll need you to be my eyes and when the man bearing gifts comes, give your loudest howl"
Crystal wagged her tail harder in response to my instructions.
To confirm my thoughts about Mama being the supposed "Man with the gifts",
I also tied a makeshift rope with a bell to the chairs close to the Christmas tree.
If mama was Santa, the bell would give her away and if Santa came through the chimney, Crystal would give him away. Whatever happens, I was uncovering a secret today.
As night time drew near so did my anxiety. I was so excited that I could hardly eat. Mama noticed and asked what was wrong. I lied and told her I couldn't wait to receive my gifts.
I said my goodnight to Mama and went to bed. After a while, she went to bed also.
I waited for some time to ensure that she was asleep before sneaking out of my room.
In the sitting room, Crystal lay in her position.
"Hush now, you don't want mom to catch us now, do you?" I said while rubbing her fur.
Crystal was a big dog whose ears were sensitive to the faintest of sound. I was rest assured that the big secret of Santa's identity would be revealed today.
I must have dozed off because I woke up with a start. There was a sound in the background,
it sounded like someone was chopping something.
"Crystal" I whispered, "where are you girl?"
Silence was what I got in return. I picked up my torch and went to investigate the noise. The sound was coming from the kitchen so I went that way.
The room was dark but I made no attempt to switch on my torch because I was in similar territory. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and tripped over something.
The ground was wet and sticky. I had bumped my head on the side stool but managed to muffle my scream.
I listened and noticed I could no longer hear the sound.
"Did I imagine the sound?" I thought to myself.
I tried to get up and almost fell off the floor the second time.
"Why is the ground wet?"
I put on my torch and the sight before me had me screaming.
The ground was wet with blood. In front of me lay Crystal, headless, with a knife sticking out of her body.
I was contemplating what to do next when I heard the chime of the bells. I looked towards that direction with fear in my heart and received my second shock.
Standing before me was Santa Claus. He was wearing his signature red robe with white beards but something was wrong. He was covered in blood and was holding a machete.
"Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas kid" he said
"I've got your present, so catch"
He threw something at me and my reflex kicked in. In my hands lay the head of Crystal with her tongue sticking out.
I felt something at my feet so I looked down. At my feet lay the head of my Mama. Her eyes stared back at me and her mouth was opened in shock.
"Ho Ho Ho" he said and I woke up with a start.
My heart felt like it was going to burst. I looked around and was relieved that it was all a dream.
I was about to stand up when I heard the chopping sound.
"Ho Ho Ho" came the voice
