It took me way too long to learn this:
Relying on willpower + NoFap is the hardest way to quit porn.
Here's an easy 7-step framework to quit porn you forever:
This is the exact framework I have taught busy 7-figure entrepreneurs.
Married men with 4 kids.
And college dudes working part-time.
But it works BEST for single men between the ages of 21-29.
Here's how to apply it to your life and quit porn forever:
Step 1)
Eliminate faulty quit porn methods.
NoFap, site-blockers, willpower, etc
All of these methods have good intentions but they fall short.
If you want permanent freedom from porn, unlearn everything you know about quitting.
And stop relying on these bad methods.
Step 2)
Educate yourself on addiction.
Porn addiction is a dopamine addiction.
Dopamine addiction makes changes to your brain's reward system and neural pathways.
When you know what happens to the brain as this is undone
Plan your recovery around it. Makes withdrawal easy.
Steps 1 and 2 are crucial.
Many will overlook them.
But it's one reason why my clients quit porn in 31 days.
Why?
Because I give them better tools. And I teach them what porn has done to their brain.
So when it is undone they know why. And how to live with it.
Onto step 3:
Step 3)
Create your own 3-part system for triggers and urges.
Every relapse happens in 3 parts:
- Something triggers you
- The trigger causes an urge
- You respond to the urge
Right now your default reaction to triggers is to have an urge.
Default reaction to urges is porn.
The urge to watch porn is not the urge to watch porn.
Watching porn is the response to your urges.
Your urges are your body's way of telling you:
"We are experiencing emotional tension"
I.e., "Something isn't right."
Right now your brain is wired to respond with porn.
Step 4)
Identify triggers and anticipate them.
The 3 kinds of triggers you need to be looking for:
1. Visual triggers
2. Emotional triggers
3. Habitual triggers
Your response to each kind of trigger should be different.
Plan your response according to the type of trigger.
For visual triggers:
- Train yourself to scroll past the image. Block the account.
For emotional triggers:
- Change your environment or go journal. Express the emotion.
For habitual triggers:
- Disrupt the habit by doing something better for yourself.
Step 5)
Disrupt default reactions.
When triggers cause you to feel an urge, tell yourself:
"This trigger has made me realize I am emotionally tense."
Now you are aware of what's going on inside you.
This means you can act accordingly.
Next, change the response:
Step 6)
Choose your response to urges.
You have two options:
1. Default by watching porn
2. Default by releasing tension
This type of subconscious rewiring is what I teach my clients.
Before they experience urges, they have made their decision.
This is POWERFUL.
Step 7)
Release the tension in a healthy way.
Your best options:
- Journaling
- Weight lifting
- Nature walks
- Time with loved ones
- Business building
- Going on dates
- Going for a drive
- Reading a book
- Meditating
- Praying
- Make a steak
DO SOMETHING GOOD FOR YOU.
