Optimize your week in 30 minutes.
A step-by-step calendar hack πŸ‘‡
Crazy calendars have been one of the more popular topics on Twitter lately (thanks @LeilaHormozi πŸ˜…)
But who wants to be in meetings all day?
Shouldn't we be optimizing for free time, family & creativity?
Before you optimize you need to understand where you are at RIGHT NOW...
You need your dataπŸ“Š
Workweek Unwrapped gave me a ton of clarity on my calendar.
Currently at 87% meeting load πŸ”₯
Not my goal but better than 2021.
Getting clear on your stats will help you create tangible goals.
Get data πŸ‘‰πŸ» workweek.com
Then optimize...
THE COLOR SYSTEM 🎨
Create 4 sub-calendars in your app:
πŸ‘‹ Personal
πŸ“† Meetings
πŸ› οΈ Tasks
❀️ Family/Friends
Assign a color to each calendar to give yourself a quick glance at how full your calendar is with each type of activity.
Now let's use them...
For the next 7 days set a recurring event:
"Time Audit" πŸ”₯
15 minutes at the end of every day to review your activities and add them to the appropriate calendar.
Pro tip: do 30 min slots on events.
It's not about dialing it down to the minute (yet).
We just want visibility.
After a week you will have a visual representation of your time spend.
Pair this with your data from workweek.com
And start deciding your goals βœ…
Want more time with your family?
Want more time with yourself?
Want to talk to more people?
Now you have benchmarks.
The first step of optimizing is setting recurring events for yourself that you always stick to.
I want to spend more time with friends and family.
So I asked a friend if he wanted to do a weekly dinner to hang out.
βœ… Step in the right direction.
Start with one.
The goal is to get to mostly recurring events.
Or at least recurring time blocks πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ
Team meetings = Monday morning
External calls = Tuesday afternoon
Dinner w/ Friends = Wednesday
Focus Work = Thursday night
Take back control of your calendar 🦾
After a few weeks you can switch to a once a week TIME AUDIT.
I generally do 30 min on Fridays.
A quick review to make sure I'm not going to burnout and I'm staying on track.
Disclaimer: Not perfect but doing my best
Just sharing what is working for me...
BOOM πŸ”₯
Hopefully this helps you get some of your time back and make sure you fit all the essentials into your calendar.
