This is how your handwriting reveals exactly who you are:
Graphology is the scientific study of handwriting.
Most people just assume handwriting is a technique we pick up naturally.
But like all our actions, it is an outward reflection of our inward character.
And that can be studied.
Let me give you some examples:
1. Size
The size of your handwriting has a direct link to trait Extraversion.
The larger your handwriting, the more likely you are to be extroverted.
The smaller your handwriting, the more likely you are to be introverted.
2. Spacing Between Words
Do you leave large gaps or small gaps between your words?
Large gaps tend to indicate freedom and a dislike of being crowded.
Small gaps tend to indicate a need to be surrounded by people.
3. Slanting
Are your letters upright or in italics?
No slant = logical and practical thinker
Right slant = open to new experiences
Left slant = keep to yourself and work behind the scenes
4. Looping
If you loop certain letters, this reveals something.
Let's take the letter 'L'
Narrow looping L's indicate restricted emotion due to tension.
Wide looping L's indicate a relaxed, spontaneous nature.
5. The Letter 'i'
The letter 'i' has many permutations.
Check out this cool graphic explaining the different varieties.
6. Pressure
If you write with heavy pressure, this indicates you are good with commitment.
If you write with light pressure, it indicates you tend to be more empathetic but less critical.
It can also indicate how much energy you have.
7. Speed
If you write quickly, it indicates you like to meet deadlines and enjoy efficiency.
If you write slowly, it indicates a desire for detail and a more methodical approach.
8. Your Signature
Sadly, I won't be giving away my signature on the Internet.
But let's check out some examples I've done for John Smith.
A free-flowing, illegible signature indicates privacy and a difficulty to understand you.
A legible signature indicates transparency.
Handwriting can not only reveal personality, but also health conditions.
Let's check out some examples:
High Blood Pressure
If you have varying pressure when writing, typically indicated by light and dark spots, you may be experiencing high blood pressure.
Schizophrenia
When you have a varying slant on your writing, from left to straight to right, it can indicate you are feeling detached from reality.
Alzheimer's
As this disease affects our memory, handwriting starts to suffer.
Speed of writing will slow down and you will see irregular lettering coupled with trembled writing.
It's a great test to keep an eye on your older relatives for this one.
Parkinson's
As Parkinson's develops, you will see the sufferer affected by micrographia - the cramping of the handwriting style.
It can sometimes cause the sufferer's writing to be so small, it is illegible.
Handwriting is a fascinating art.
What saddens me most is as we dive deeper into this digital world, the art of the physical word is dying.
Your handwriting is a unique imprint on the world that reveals so much fascinating information about you.
