Competition is fierce today
How can you avoid losing customers to competitors?
It’s time to get in the holiday spirit—let me show you...
Studies show that delight—not satisfaction—is what drives brand loyalty
In the battle to retain customers...
The world’s best brands are constantly looking for ways to surprise and delight their buyers
Here's 6 examples of truly delight holiday campaigns:
1/ Spotify
Spotify Wrapped is a great example of how to use user data to delight your customers
Every year, Spotify analyzes your profile and turns that data into a slide show of what you've been listening to
This is a very smart move from Spotify for two reasons:
> It surprises users
> It generates a lot of buzz as music lovers excitedly show off their good taste by sharing their results on social media
A gift that keeps on giving 🎁
2/ Starbucks
The Instagram famous Starbucks cups get a new design during the holiday season:
They turn festive! 🎄
It's not only a surprise for customers... but also a reminder that Starbucks' holiday drinks, like gingerbread lattes, are on their way
3/ Krispy Kreme
Krispy Kreme launched "12 Days of Donuts" in 2012
Every box purchase came with a free donut coupon
On the box was also a QR code that led to a holiday music video
Due to the campaign’s success, every year since then they have released these "holiday donuts"
4/ HBO
It's frustrating when someone recommends a show and say, "It's on HBO" but you’re not a subscriber
As this happens often, HBO ideated a campaign where you could gift 12 free episodes of one show to a friend
A great way to spread some cheer and win new customers
5/ American Express
Do you know about Small Business Saturday?
The event is sponsored by American Express and takes place the Sat following Thanksgiving
It aims to increase revenue for small indie businesses
AE also provides free marketing materials that can be customized👇
5/ Oreo
For the holiday season, Oreo offered its customers the opportunity to customize their cookie package
You could create a unique design and send it as a gift
Now your friends and family have cookies for Santa (and a few extras for themselves too) 🍪🎅
TL;DR
Providing *unexpected* value is the key to delighting buyers
Delight leads to more brand loyalty... but delight is fleeting
Brands must consistently up the ante if they wish to create a wow-worthy experience
