A lot of people ask me for help deciding on a niche for their site. I always tell them their primary passion is the best answer.
But I like data too.
So look at what's already proven outside of a website.
1. Every sizable sub-Reddit is a $10k+/mo website.
2. be continued:
2. TV channels and categories. Look at smaller services like Pluto TV. They've done the market research to determine there's an audience.
3. YouTube channels. So many big channels don't have a website equivalent.
4. Large Facebook Groups. Use Zuck for ideas like he uses us.
5. Twitter. Long threads get thousands of likes for a reason. Study why, then do the same thing in your own way/niche on a website.
6. Conversations all around you. This sounds sociopathic but every conversation is potential content. Pay attention.
7. is my favorite number.
