"Psychology is a pseudoscience. Now let me share my personal folk psychology about the female mind I just made up."
Almost without exception, people who say "psychology is pseudoscience" have been influenced by psychological findings even if they don't know it.
He seems to believe these findings are is legit for example:
Science describes a method, not a field. Most of psychology (not all) is the scientific method applied to human behavior.
Basically the entirety of quantitative research psychology at least.
Some fields we think of broadly as "science" also don't involve the application of the scientific method in many cases, depending on what you are doing.
The practice of medicine, the writing of code.
Everyone has a folk psychology or theory of mind. The way we mentally model the minds of others. The beliefs we form about the mental states and psychology of other people. It's an inescapable feature or our own minds - modeling the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of others.
I think some people dislike psychology because it can occasionally show: "your theory of mind is wrong."
Undermining the feelings and opinions that people form.
Incidentally, when you see data like: "there are more women in X field" it will often have been collected by a psychologist.
One of the many things psychology does.
Most psychologists are not actually sitting in a divan and asking you about your mother.
