Firstly: Submission to Allāh through Tawḥīd.
Secondly: Yielding to Him through obedience.

Thirdly: Barāʾah (disavowing) from that which contradicts Tawḥīd and contradicts obedience and that is Shirk.
Fourthly: Barāʾah (disavowing) from the people of Shirk (i.e. Mushrikīn).
Fourthly: Barāʾah (disavowing) from the people of Shirk (i.e. Mushrikīn).
By achieving these characteristics you will be a Muslim, as for if you miss out on a single characteristic from them then you will not be a Muslim.
