This is the grave of al-Shaykh Yūsuf al-Maghribī al-Hasanī (d. 1279), father of al-Muhaddith al-Akbar al-Shaykh Badr al-Dīn al-Hasanī.
Some of his students include Muhammad al-Amīr, Hasan al-‘Attār, Ahmad al-Sāwī and Ibrāhīm al-Bājūrī
al-Shaykh Yūsuf played a vital role in retaking Dār al-Hadīth al-Ashrafiyyah with the help of al-Amīr ‘Abd al-Qādir al-Jazā’irī
Dār al-Hadīth was taken by a Nasrānī drunkard who turned it's rooms into his Fisq centre. It was bought legally by al-Amīr ‘Abd al-Qādir and transformed back into Dār al-Hadīth.
He was a Mālikī.
Anyone who meets him testifies to his piety, knowledge and patience in trials.
Not far from him is his son, al-Muhaddith al-Akbar, al-Shaykh Badr al-Dīn al-Hasanī رضي الله عنه
Needs no introduction by now
If you don't know who he is, you probably live in an igloo
Also not far from him is his son,
Ibrāhīm ‘Isām al-Dīn al-Hasanī, the son of al-Muhaddith al-Akbar, grandson of al-Shaykh Yūsuf.
He was a scholar, was taught by the students of al-Muhaddith al-Akbar رضي الله عنه as well as his father.
When he died from an illness during the time of the First World War, at first, no one dared pass this news to al-Shaykh Badr al-Dīn.
When a student finally found the bravery to go up to him and tell him, while he was deep in researching,
al-Shaykh Badr al-Dīn turned to him -before he said a word- and told him: "O my son, the matter has been decided."
Then he went quiet, his eyes teared up, and he said: "There is no might nor power except by Allah."
al-Shaykh Badr al-Dīn's other son is Tāj al-Dīn al-Hasanī, who is buried next to his father.
He was given Ijāzah by not only his father, but also al-Shaykh ‘Abd al-Hākim al-Afaghānī, Muhammad Ibn Ja‘far al-Kittānī and Muhammad Bakhīt.
And now the icing on the cake, the grandfather of al-Muhaddith al-Akbar, father of al-Shaykh Yūsuf, Abu al-Mahāsin ‘Abd al-Rahmān al-Kuzbarī
Muhaddith of al-Shām.
His grandson al-Muhaddith al-Akbar gave him the titles: Khātimat Muhaqqiqīn and Imām al-Muhaddithīn.
So our family tree is:
Yūsuf al-Maghribī al-Hasanī
l
Badr al-Dīn al-Hasanī
l
‘Isām al-Dīn + Tāj al-Dīn
And Abu al-Mahāsin al-Kuzbarī (grandfather) from his mother's side.
رضي الله عنهم أجمعين
