1. The government has revealed a list of 11 items under the Christmas Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme.
The scheme will take effect from Dec 23 to Dec 27, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Salahuddin Ayub said.
2. The items are:
Live old chickens (controlled in Sarawak)
Chicken wings (controlled in Sarawak, Sabah & Labuan)
Imported muttons
Tomatoes
Green capsicums
Round cabbages (imported from China and Indonesia)
Carrots
Potatoes (imported from China)
3. Continue-
Live pigs (controlled in Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan)
Pork bellies, meats and fats (controlled in Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan)
Salahuddin added that the prices of chickens and eggs are also being controlled but under a separate mechanism.
4. He said the scheme would create a win-win situation for consumers and traders.
He added that stern action, including penalties, will be taken against traders who fail to comply with this scheme's regulations.
