Messi's greatness is in his talent, but Ronaldo's greatness is in much more Ronaldo is the face of every child and man defying the odds. By the age of 5 Messi was playing for his father's team. By the age of 8 Ronaldo was sweeping the streets with no father in sight.
He is inspiration personified. We can celebrate Messi for the cups he's won, and the individual achievements thus far, but to reduce Ronaldo's impact to the same would be a monumental injustice. He is proof that every child can amount to something with discipline & hardwork.
Messi's dance with soccer was inevitable. A road had been paved for him as his father was a coach. At 13, his father's connections, alongside his undeniable talent, saw him in Barcelona, when Ronaldo was barely scratching the surfaces of local teams with his sweeper broom.
Ronaldo is our GOAT because he is the true Outlier. Born into a soccer-less history to become a soccer maestro: it is unprecedented. Messi is undeniably special but Ronaldo is more relatable to us children of the sun. He is a combination of a little of everything. He is us.
That it does not take special to win. That dedication can take you just as far. That when you are dealt some injury, you don't let it define you. Very few can relate to Messi's talent, yet Ronaldo is each and every one of you. Messi was born god, Ronaldo was a man who became god.
