Want people to finish your book? Make your first chapter a sales letter!
This is a small change that can make a huge difference.
Here's how to do it.
๐Ÿงต Thread ๐Ÿงต
People can get your first chapter for free on Amazon.
But no one values what is free. ๐Ÿฅฑ
What to do?
Cultivate desire for what it is that you're going to teach. ๐Ÿ’˜
How?
The 7 Part Sales Letter.
The 7 Part Sales Letter Template
1. Hook
2. Problem
3. Agitation
4. Solution
5. Proof
6. De-risk
7. Action
Here's the process and questions for every part of the template. โฌ‡๏ธ
HOOK
The Hook is both the title and subtitle of the book.
Here's how to write a winning title:
And here's my exact process I use to write winning subtitles:
Now back to your Hook.
Think not in terms of how much your book costs, think of how much time it takes.
Everybody has $20 bucks to buy a paperback, but not everyone will commit the 4 hours to read your book.
Your best high ticket offer prospects?
They are the LEAST LIKELY to spend the 4 hours to read your book.
Better make sure your hook is on point!
PROBLEM
You must speak exactly to the problem your prospective reader is feeling.
Does this happen to you?
Do you relate to this?
Can you imagine this?
Above all, don't be boring.
AGITATION
How bad was it really?
Make us feel the pain in gruesome detail.
Show us how you were walking through Hell.
Use hypnotic language like I taught you here โฌ‡๏ธ
SOLUTION
What worked for them finally after nothing else did?
How do we know it worked?
Why did it work?
Would it work again?
PROOF
Prove your solution works.
Did it work for other people?
Did it work for you?
How well did it work?
Do you have before-and-after photos or stories?
Give us the data, not the fluff.
DE-RISK
Now de-risk your book.
How is it superior to all other solutions?
How easy was it really?
How quickly did it work?
How well does it work a 2nd time, 3rd time?
Testimonials are your friend:
ACTION
The action is not simply "buy this book."
The action is "here's a list of things you will be able to do once you invest the TIME in this book."
Bulleted lists are your friends.
Here's part of Gary Vaynerchuck's first chapter of "Crush It."
Look familiar?
The pros have been doing bulleted action lists a while.
As your reader scrolls through the end of the first chapter they see:
1. These are the things that you're going learn
then
2. Here's how to buy the book
"But Joshua I already wrote a killer Chapter 1!"
Awesome, that's now Chapter 2, you are ahead of the game!
You new Chapter 1 will follow the exact process laid out above.
You will thank me. ๐Ÿ™
