This afternoon my 9 year old projectile vomited on me at a diner. I drove her and the toddler home and realized our running water was turned off by the city for repairs.
So I got her in and stripped off the contaminated clothes and poured water into a pot to boil.

Got the toddler set up with something to be distracted and wrapped my sick kiddo in towels in blankets as she was shivering.
Brought the warm boiled water into the shower and cleaned her with a cup. Then wrapped her up again and dressed her warm and cozy.

It's not that hard. I told my parents this story and they thought it was the craziest thing. I'm used to this by now. Chaos with limited resources. Gotta be crafty and work fast to care for the kiddos, who rely on you.
Some days I feel like an absolute superhero and then I quickly realize how much less capable I am than like some standard 1899 mom
