Good morning twitter! 17ºF 15mph N wind
I'm not going outside today
Here is my initial Twitter feed.
This is actually the first time I've seen one of these in situ.
Scrolling down I see this interesting juxtaposition
This is what my mention notifications look like
I want to hear more about this @BlackberryXRP
I'm going to bookmark the tweets that need responses and then have some breakfast.
Am I using Twitter right?
I feel like I'm stumbling through learning and am often overwhelmed by the flow of notifications and feed changes.
Of the 3 images above, guess which tweet I find most intriguin.
@SGrey589 3. Go back and look at the copyright date. (no peeking)
4. Marvel at how you thought you were reading about the "modern" media problems we see all around us.
The book changed my whole perception of the world.
I don't agree with his "solutions". But it clarifies the real problem.
@SGrey589 For your TV
1. Across the Pacific
panam.org
Mind blowing what they did.
The original use case for airplanes was to drop bombs.
Juan Trippe saw international passenger travel when biplanes were still barnstorming.
@SGrey589 2. The Men Who Built America
history.com
In school they taught us they were "robber barons". OMFG! When faced with obstacles, people solve problems.
Turns out solving impossible problems is valuable.
See where billionaires giving back started and why.
LunarCrush is what most intrigued me. I had no idea people where tracking everyone at that level.
No wonder people think I'm "pumping".
I want to hear more about how those graphs are perceived and affect the community.
Thanks @BlackberryXRP !
This was my first time seeing the bear as everyone else sees him. I read the analysis part way through and got bored.
The Car tweet I thought was one of those "promoted tweet" advertisements. Then I thought it was just a guy "self promoting" himself.
Christine Lagarde juxtaposed with Lingto made me laugh. Crypto as a peer with mainstream.
But both looked like "promoted tweets" to me.
Totally got The Yodeler's sarcasm and felt the same pain.
Pas En Maz, made me realize I jumped through the Flare hoops too. "Then wondered whatever happened with that?" And then, "Shit, do I owe taxes?"
LunarCrush I found scary. Intriguing, but very scary.
Oh, and it made me want to ask, what's the difference (on twitter) between:
1. a search for "XRP
2. #XRP
3. $XRP
Can anyone clue me?
@uptownsaul "seeing the bear as everyone else sees him"
Means, at the same time in the same place. It popped up in my twitter feed just like it does yours.
So I'm seeing it like everyone else.
@uptownsaul Years ago when people talked about him they thought he was a Ripple insider. But I didn't really explore why. Just didn't seem likely to me.
Someone told me "people" now think it is @joelkatz or @bob_way. Is that true?
@uptownsaul @JoelKatz I know it's not me. Mostly because I'm not a trader of XRP or any crypto. Nor do I gamble. All those give me butterflies in my stomach. So I just ignore the prices and let my wife tell me once in a while.
But I'm still all-in on XRP and Ripple stock. Hodl!
@uptownsaul @JoelKatz Doesn't seem like @JoelKatz's kind of humor to me. Not to mention that he is one of the most open and least manipulative person I know. He couldn't pull off the "public hiding". He's not Satoshi.
@uptownsaul @JoelKatz Actually, since I've forgotten who my friends are, I should ask...
Hey @joelkatz, are you Satoshi? If so, we met back on BitcoinTalk. We DM's.
@uptownsaul @JoelKatz I only know one person from Ripple who I think would be cunning enough. But I've never seen him care a wit about the XRP community or express tendencies to riddle in any way.
That's why I don't think it is anyone at Ripple. But it seems reasonable its from the XRP Community.
@uptownsaul @JoelKatz But if @JoelKatz tells me he's Satoshi. Then I change my answer. 😀
@Golfstud84 @tictocrypto @uptownsaul @JoelKatz And I know Arthur. He is a really great guy.
Arthur exists!
@ddr6easy @uptownsaul @JoelKatz Boy, in bed on my phone at 2:30am. It’s really hard to follow threading on my phone. Also impossible to see emoji. I should sleep again. Thanks again for good wishes.
@SGrey589 One other book is worth a quick read.
- Zero to One, Peter Thiel
It is about birthing truly new ideas, rather than making incremental improvements on what already exists.
My favorite quote is
@SGrey589 “In the most minimal sense, the future is simply the set of all moments yet to come. But what makes the future distinctive and important isn’t that it hasn’t happened yet, but rather that it will be a time when the world looks different from today."
@SGrey589 "In this sense, if nothing about our society changes for the next 100 years, then the future is over 100 years away. If things change radically in the next decade, then the future is nearly at hand."
Personally, I see a future that is nearly at hand.
@SGrey589 This should say “can’t” not can.
@m888_xrp @SGrey589 "We didn't star the fire" is a song about people being upset about current events. For a while, people were suggesting these were all new "modern" problems.
Billy Joel points out that this is a naive perspective. One you understand better as you get older.
@m888_xrp @SGrey589 A friend of mine pointed out the truism, "Every generation thinks they invented sex." Implying naively, of course, that parents and older people couldn't possibly understand how they feel. 'cause self-discovery.
It is easy to see that gen-z is repeating the 1970s but don't know
@m888_xrp @SGrey589 Walter Lippmann points out way back in 1921 that what people believe (their model of reality) comes more from what they read in the "newspaper" (the only media of his time) than from what they personally see and hear. I maintain that's still true, but media is manipulated (angry)
@m888_xrp @SGrey589 Most people don't recognize this anger as the result of manipulation. Hence it's "Magic" being done right in front of them.
But most people think they can't be fooled because they are doing their own research. You can and you are.
Go see a magic show and watch carefully...
@m888_xrp @SGrey589 This answer is a little "magic" trick of my own as demonstration.
Twitter won't promote this tweet as it is buried so far down in a thread. So we now have a "shared secret" between/among us.
Ssssh... Don't tell anyone.
