1. Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has called for a probe into claims that Telekom Malaysia sold its subsidiary, Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd, to a company named Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd.
Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd manages the iconic KL Tower.
2. Fahmi says he was made aware of the matter, and sought an internal briefing with Telekom Malaysia, and the Communications and Multimedia ministry itself.
He also welcomed official investigations by the authorities, and promises to cooperate with them.
3. Based on public information, Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd's 10 million shares owned by TM had changed hands to Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd on Oct 31.
This was before GE15. The issue also sparked discussions online, as the buyer was not very well known.
4. Meanwhile, ex-KKMM minister Annuar Musa told Malaysiakini, the deal had nothing to do with his ministry, and it involves a public-listed company.
"Go ask TM. If the company was making RM25mil in profit, why didn't they want to keep it," he said.
